Welcome to the 36th Annual Day Celebratoions of Sabarigiri Residential School, Anchal.

The aim of our school is to provide top quality education to the children of our society but today it can acclaim to its credit, the challenging task of grooming and nurturing students by providing them conductive ambiance and inculcating values and self-discipline which can be seen fast eroding in the present generation.

Keeping in mind, that the limit for improving the stature of school has no limit, I take pleasure and pride in highlighting the achievements of our school.

Our former President Hon’ble Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam said:

“We are all born with a divine fire in us. Our efforts should be to give wings to this fire and fill the world with the glow of its goodness”.

We have a great personality who had awakened and discovered the latent strength in him and utilized it for the development of our children. Yet, the founder and Chairman Dr. V.K Jayakumar, a visionary who visualized the golden dream of building a school. The hardwork and commitment shown by him has helped the school to scale unprecedented heights.

The KG section commenced on 4th June. On that day our kiddies started a new phase of education. For welcoming the kids we arranged a welcome utsav. They were welcomed to the school by the Chairman Dr. V.K. Jayakumar, Principal Deepa Chandran and their teachers. The Kindergarden teachers who are committed to serve individual needs of each child with the goal of instilling a love of learning took the children to a colourful world of learning.

TRIPS AND EXCURSSIONS

“One’s destination is never a place but a new way of seeing things”.

It has been an endeavor of the school to provide its students with ample opportunities to get an experience of the outside world by organizing educational tours and excursions throughout the year.

Travelling unfetters the mind from the constraints of routine life; gives wings to the imagination to soar high and creates everlasting memories. A school trip is a multidimensional learning experience transacted beyond the confines of a class room, in the joyful company of friends and peers. As a part of it, this year the children of KG section and primary section were taken to Magic Land, Trivandrum. Children of XII were taken to Wonderla, Kochi.

OPEN HOUSE

The teacher needs to play the role of facilitator of learning and helping students turn information into knowledge, and knowledge into wisdom. Schools need to be porous and transparent, able to connect teachers, students, parents and the community to the wealth of knowledge that exists in the world.

When parents establish a relationship with teachers it helps children do well academically. Teachers welcome the opportunities to get to know parents. We have the Open House System which helps the parents and teachers a lot. Open Houses and PTA meeting were conducted frequently.

CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES

Apart from the performances in the curricular activities, we inspire our students to participate in co-scholastic activities because it gives them an extra edge and confidence to move ahead in the competitive world.

The entire school is divided into four houses namely Gokhale, Nehru, Nethaji and Patel. Inter house competitions were held on house days which included One-act play, Advertisements, Dance, Music, Anchoring and what not which has helped us to pick out many an aspirants for the future world of performing arts.

We had Rangotsav on 05th and 06th August.

Our students participated in CBSE Management Youth Festival at Saraswathi Vidhyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram. Working consistently towards achieving perfection, our students’ outstanding performance won laurels and accolades for the school as well. Our school grabbed the Overall Winner’s Trophy with many A grades, Ist in most of the group items like Oppana, Margamkali, Mime etc.

In the state level competition Nidhi Uday won 1st prize in Mohiniyattom and Aswin Prakash won 2nd Prize in Light Music.

SPORTS AND GAMES.

“Sports teaches us how to lose, but it also teaches us how not to be a loser”.

The domain of sports has the vast potential to ‘better’ the game of life itself. Besides promoting physical fitness, it lays importance on healthy life style and helps in developing social skills. Sports play a pivotal role in instilling among our impressionable learners values that would hold them in good stead throughout their lives, such as discipline, perseverance, team spirit, sportsmanship etc.

Undoubtedly then, sports is an integral part of the life of each Sabarigirian. The success of our students in sports bears testimony to the school’s endeavors in encouraging sporting talent as well as our students’ indomitable will and skill to win.

Athletic Meet was conducted on 13th November. It witnessed a healthy competition and sporting enthusiasm. The students from KG to XII participated in various items and won prizes. Sports Day was celebrated on 03rd of December. We had Wing Commander Sri. A. G. Srinivasan (Commandant, No. 1 Kerala Air Sqn, N.C.C, TVM), Ms. Priya. P. K (Winner, 2010 Commen Wealth & 2011 National Games) as the Chief Guest.

Our students participated in CBSE inter school cricket tournament held at Viswajyothi Public School, Angamali on November 13th. We also participated in Venad Sahodaya Football competition held at S. N. Public School, Kollam. Our school participated in Venad Sahodaya Athletic Meet conducted at Trivandrum Central Stadium and Abhimanyu of VIth C grabbed First Prize in under 16 400 metres race. Ahammed Kabeer got first prize in under 16 800 metres race. Sandeep of VIIIth standard got First Prize in 100 metres race.

We are hoisting the First Venad Sahaodaya Roller Skating Championship on November 28th & 29th 2014

TEACHER ENPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES.

God understood our thirst for
knowledge, and our need to be led
by someone wiser;
He needed a heart of compassion,
of encouragement, and patience;
someone who would accept
the challenge regardless of the
opposition;
someone who could see potential
and believe in others
so He made teachers.

To equip our teachers to excel many faculty improvement programmes were held. Interactive sessions with resource persons are arranged throughout the year.

It is a matter of great pride that we hosted the Principal’s Meet – Asl Training Programme organized by CBSE on 21st, 22nd and 23rd August, 2014. Our teachers also attended different empowerment programme organized by Venad Sahodaya Complex and CBSE directly.

CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Sabarigiri Residential School has various clubs which helped to bring out the hidden talents of students. It provides a platform for the children to showcase the abilities they have in them.

Bulletin Boards, which is given to each house provide an opportunity to our children to express their artistic talents in a competitive manner. We take special initiative to prepare the children for IIT, engineering and medical entrance. Extra efforts is being taken for moulding their talents in skating, karate, music, dance etc.

In order to enhance the ability of our students in speaking English the school has tied up with B.Ghud, which is one of the leading finishing institutions in India.

The demands of the 21st century have attained a new picture of a learner. We can no more perceive a student loaded with school bag, hated not just for the physical weight but also for the heaviness of the contents. CBSE had taken the initiative of reducing the load by innovative means. The very idea of the limiting knowledge to the printed words of the bulky books is fast changing. We are proud to be the first CBSE-i Campus in Kerala.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success”. With these words I acknowledge all the sincere support of parents and well wishers. Honestly it does wonders to our team spirit. I also recall with tremendous appreciation the initiative of parents in this session for offering a helping hand in all our endeavors.

There is no substitution for hard work. The school stands at the pinnacle of glory and greatness only because of the contributions of ardent, fervent and dedicated efforts, thinking and guidelines given to us by our experienced team of Sabarigiri Management Committee members. We are extremely indebted to all of them for being our guiding force.

I express my extreme gratitude to all our distinguished guests for gracing the occasion.

Honesty speaking I am proud of every student at Sabarigiri for they are unique in every respect.

Talent win games, but team work and intelligence win championship.

Nothing we accomplish could happen without the commitment and resource of a teacher. In our school, team work is the force that moves us forward. So I am personally thankful to all my affectionate and co-operating teaching staff, office staff, non-teaching staff and my students for their kind hearted support, involvement, commitment in developing our institution.

As our journey continuous we take a new challenges, new solution and new heights. We know ideas will be born, to be discarded, to be adopted, to succeed and to triumph. But we shall not cease from exploration.

The person, who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow, and love and like. Worry, doubt, self-trust, fear and despair these are the ling, long years that bow the head and turn growing spirit back to dust. At Sabarigiri, there is in every beings heart the love of wonder, the sweet amazement of the star and star-line things and thoughts, the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailing child-like appetite for what next, and the joy and game of life.

We pray, may the dream of every parent who toil to give their best to their children may get the best from us and that we cater to the noble desires of the parents. We are leading the way for a bright and better future of every child who reads here in this school, with not our might, but with the guidance, help and grace of Almighty God.

To conclude I would like to quote “While we are living in the present, we must celebrate life every day, knowing that we are becoming history with every work, every action, and every deed”. Our journey has started and we have many miles to go before our goals are achieved. Together we can synergize education for our children. We have learnt from our previous experiences and now look forward to march ahead with even greater understanding, dedications and wisdom in the years to come.

We invite you to join the excitement of the ever unfolding day and cherish a very special feeling, the feeling of how we made a difference. My best wishes and regards to each one of you.

Wish you all a blessed and happy 2015.

Thanking you,

Dr. Deepa Chandran
Principal
